Sebastian Ilie State

With a flaming passion, my work is created at the melting point between conceptual, absurdist art and intimate stories. I make use of photography and videography to explore social issues in an absurd and unique manner. By doing so, I’m ridiculizing them to a point where they become accessible in their vulnerability. My work balances humor and satire to build critiques, which usually originate from personal frustrations.

On the other hand, I also use my art to delve into personal stories. In the process of cleaving my abstract thoughts, they inherit a solid form which is often shaped by metaphors and tragedy. This translation offers the viewer a new way of looking at human experiences.

I often draw inspiration from other art forms, where music and poetry play a very important role.

In 2024, I graduated the professional bachelor’s degree at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels and I am currently pursuing the academic master’s degree at LUCA School of Arts in Genk.
